Munnar, located at Idukki district, means “three rivers”. The rivers at which bank this city is situated are Madhurapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly rivers. Munnar is beautiful hill station where many tea and coffee plantation is done. Munnar is the known hill station in the south India.
Located very close to Varala falls,Cheeyapara waterfalls lies between the towns of Neriamangalam and Adimali, along the national highway linking Cochin with Madurai. It is about 40 km from Munnar. This is a seven step waterfall and watching it cascading down is a mesmerizing sight.
Tata tea museum is located around 2 kms from Munnar. The museum set up at the Nallathanni Estate of Tata Tea in Munnar is a fitting tribute to the toils and rigours of its pioneers, who showed utmost determination and were resolute in their efforts to transform Munnar into a major plantation centre of Kerala.The Tata Tea Museum diligently portrays the growth of Munnar tea estates, veritably conveyed through some of the displays like the rudimentary tea roller to the modern fully automated tea factory. Visitors to the museum can satiate their curiosity on various stages of tea processing, and also learn a thing or two about the production of black tea.
Mattupetty Dam is approximately 13 kms from Munnar. It is situated at an altitude of 1700m above the sea level and is highly famous for the Indo – Swiss live stock projects. The dam is the perfect spot to see hundred ranges of high yielding cattle nurtured. Close to the Dam is a beautiful lake, which is a well known tourist spot in the area. It offers boating facilities.
Eravikulam National Park is 97 sq. km. in extent, situated along the crest of the Western Ghats in the High Ranges of Idukki district of Kerala state.The Park holds the largest viable population of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr .Apart from tahr, the Park is the abode of other little known fauna such as Nilgiri marten, ruddy mongoose,small clawed otter,dusky striped sqirrel etc.
This Church is significant as it is constructed nearly 110 years ago. It was built by the British tea planters. It reflects the poise of construction and the holiness is felt at the entrance of the church. It looks magnificent with stain glass windows and is very beautiful amidst the thronging natural beauty. The sanctity of the Christ Church is unspoiled as it is far away from the busy city life and visitors love to admire the church and its peaceful atmosphere.
